BiomassPla
JBPA defines Biomass-based Plastics as polymer materials that are produced by synthesizing, either chemically or biologically, materials which contain renewable organic materials. Our cellulose acetate products have been certificated “BiomassPla” by JPBA.
Biodegradable Plastics
The term "Biodegradability" is defined as the characteristics of material that can be microbiologically degraded to the final products of carbon dioxide and water, which in turn are recycled in the nature. Biodegradation should be distinguished from disintegration which simply means the material is broken into small and separate pieces. Biodegradability of plastics is determined by the ISO methods and evaluated based upon the pre-established criteria. Only biodegradable plastics that meet the rigorous criteria such as contents of heavy metals are permitted to use the name and mark of “Biodegradable Plastics”.
Our Cellulose Acetate (Diacetate) products have been certificated “Biodegradable Plastics” by JPBA.
Biodegradable & Biobased Plastics
Biodegradable Plastics that meet the biomass plastic identification labeling standards of JBPA are permitted to use the name and mark of "Biodegradable & Biobased Plastics".
Our Cellulose Acetate (Diacetate) products are permitted to use its name and mark.
About Japan BioPlastics Association (JBPA)
Japan BioPlastics Association (JBPA) is a private organization with the objectives of promoting the popularization of Biomass-based plastics and Biodegradable plastics as well as establishing the new technologies relevant to these new plastics. Daicel Corporation is a member of the JBPA.
