The Integrated Production Center (IPC) was established in the Aboshi Plant of the Himeji Production Sector and began integrated operation in March 2000. Our production innovation initiative ? introduced as “Daicel Production Innovation” ? has achieved substantial productivity improvements. Our approach has attracted attention within the processing sector and several companies in Japan are now introducing it.Looking to business, and specifically our cellulosic derivatives business, we established Ningbo Da-An Chemical Industries Co., Ltd. in China in 2005 to manufacture and sell cellulose acetate and acetic anhydrate. In addition, in 2006, we tripled the production capacity of Xi’an Huida Chemical Industries Co., Ltd. and constructed an integrated production system to manufacture products from cellulose acetate to acetate tow in China.

In Japan, part of the premises of the Sakai Plant was expropriated for construction of the Yamatogawa Line of the Hanshin Expressway. The cigarette filter tow manufacturing facility of the Sakai Plant, therefore, was transferred to the Ohtake Plant in 2007, and the capacity of the facility was increased. In addition, demand for tri-acetyl cellulose (TAC) increased rapidly due to expansion of the LCD market. We, therefore, constructed an additional cellulose acetate manufacturing facility in the Aboshi Plant in 2004 to enhance our TAC business. In addition, tri-acetyl cellulose (TAC) manufacturing facilities were newly established at the Ohtake Plant in 2008, thus creating the twin hub system at Aboshi and Ohtake.
