What is VELOXTAR™ technology?
VELOXTAR™ is a technology that produces a very thin orally disintegrating tablet (ODT) like a coin. The distinctive tablet shape and unique formulation design allow the ODTs to disintegrate in 4-6 seconds.
There are several technologies to prepare ultra-rapid ODTs (UR-ODT). One of that is lyophilization. The advantage of lyophilized ODTs is extremely short disintegration time in 1-3 seconds, however, the tablets are fragile and easily moistened after opening the packages. Additionally, special equipment is required for the production.
Another method of producing ODTs is dry tableting. Although it is a simple process that can manufacture ODTs with higher hardness and practical hygroscopic stability, they are difficult to disintegrate not more than 10 seconds like lyophilized ODTs.
VELOXTAR™ is a state-of-the-art technology that combines the advantages of lyophilization and dry tableting method. VELOXTAR™ technology significantly reduces the disintegration time, while still providing practical tablet hardness.
