This white paper presents an application example of ODT with solid dispersion (SD) and HiSORAD.
SD is one of the methods to improve API solubility. However, there are few ODTs with SD in the market since there are two technical issues. First , the water-soluble polymer which is usually used for SD is likely to lead a reduction in disintegration. Second, SD tends to increase overall weight and size of tablets compared to unprocessed APIs because they contain several polymers.
Here we aimed to formulate ODTs with good disintegrability and compactability, even if it has the same weight and size as the commercialized normal tablet. The issues were overcome by using a water-insoluble polymer and HiSORAD which has excellent disitegratability even in smaller quantities in ODTs.
