Functions

Daicel's anti-reflection films can reduce reflected light1) to less than 0.5% or produce a high anti-glare effect with haze over 80%2). By controlling the amount of reflecting light, they make displays more visible, which in turns reduces eye strain. With its anti-glare films, Daicel uses a proprietary phase separation coating technology to dampen display sparkle. Daicel has combined its wet/dry processes with other coatings to supply display films for many applications including car navigation displays, smartphones, tablets and other touch devices, as well as computers, signage, electronic blackboards and more.

Daicel's high-hardness coatings have 6 times the abrasion resistance1) of tempered glass used with smartphones and other touch devices, therefore they make it incredibly hard to scratch their surfaces. Films prepared with these coating technologies are widely used for many applications including car navigation displays, smartphones, tablets and other touch devices, as well as computers, signage, electronic blackboards and more.

Daicel's anti-smudge coatings fend off oil stains and fingerprints1), and can be easily wiped clean2), therefore they keep film surfaces clean.

With its textured films, Daicel controls surface roughness on the micron level using patented technology. As such, Daicel can create the desired texture, whether that is to produce a silk-like smoothness that feels nice to the touch or to reproduce the writability of pencil and paper. In addition to touch-operated smartphones and tablets, these contact films are widely used with stylus devices like signature pads and electronic notebooks.

Despite being just 16 𝜇m thick, Daicel's shading films can block upwards of 99.9999% of visible light. Moreover, surface reflectance is less than half that of conventional products, so these films also reduce the amount of excess (external) light that is scattered on their surfaces. These features set the stage for making compact camera unit thinners while also improving picture quality, which is why these films are used with smartphones, computers, automotive electronics and more.

Daicel has found a good balance between strength and flexibility with these foldable, high-hardness films. They are being widely used as cover films for foldable devices.
