Under the “Certified Health & Productivity Management Outstanding Organizations Recognition Program”, companies are honored for excellence in the practice of health management.
In order to further expand the range of health management, the Ministry of Economy, Trade & Industry (METI) and Nippon Kenko Kaigi (Japan Health Conference) collaborate to evaluate health management practices based on five certification criteria –“Management Philosophy”, “Organizational Structure”, “Systems and Implementation of Policies”, “Evaluation and Improvement” and “Compliance and Risk Management” and concrete activities.

In Daicel, under the themes “Mental Health Care” and “Physical Health Care”, the Central Health Care Committee organized by labor management and the health insurance society, members such as industrial health staff (industrial doctors, public health nurses, etc.) and psychiatrists take actions together to maintain and improve the mental and physical health of employees. Their activities include supporting the reinstatement of employees with mental health disorders, preventive education to provide early detection and a timely response to mental issues and framework development.

In terms of “Mental Health Care”, Daicel Group, has achieved a 99 per cent rate of stress check testing in Fiscal 2017 and has been working on improvement of the working environment based on the results of work place analysis. Furthermore, in order to improve the support system for employees with mental health problems, four psychiatrists are each in charge of a a regional territory in order to provide a more thorough response, resulting in decreased relapses and absences from work.
In the area of “Physical Health Care”, Daicel has been strengthening cooperation with the health insurance society towards the governmental goals - implementation of 90% of specific health checkups and 60 % of specific health guidance.

We think that active and healthy employees are fundamental to achieving both fulfilling lives for each employee and corporate growth. We will continue our activities, for “Health Promotion” as a key management task.
