Daicel Corporation (Head office: Kita-ku, Osaka, President: Misao Fudaba) will establish a new production facility for 1,3-butylene glycol (1,3-BG) at its Aboshi Plant (Himeji-shi, Hyogo).

1,3-BG is widely utilized mainly as an ingredient for cosmetics and Daicel currently produces 1,3-BG at its Ohtake Plant (Ohtake-shi, Hiroshima). Daicel expects that the demand for 1,3-BG will further increase due to growth in global demand for cosmetics in recent years, especially in Asia. By the establishment of the new facility, Daicel aims to double its production capacity of 1,3-BG’s cosmetics grade, and increase the number of the production sites to provide a stable supply to customers of Daicel’s 1,3-BG.

The new facility will be completed in September 2020 and shipping of products will start in October.
