Regarding Trouble at the CO (Carbon Monoxide) Plant

On Sunday, January 11, a malfunction occurred at the CO plant in the Aboshi Plant of our Himeji Manufacturing Plant, resulting in an emergency shutdown. Consequently, production at the acetic acid plant, which uses CO as a raw material, was also halted. The details known as of today are as follows.

2.Outline of the Malfunction

Malfunction of the coal slurry feed pump to the gasifier in the CO plant

3.Countermeasures
The malfunctioning area has been identified. Countermeasures will be implemented during the operational suspension period.

4.Impact on Production
CO Plant: Approximately 10 days of shutdown
Acetic Acid Plant: Approximately 2 weeks of operational suspension

5.Impact on Business Performance
Currently under investigation. Should a material impact on financial results be anticipated, we will disclose this separately.
